WHIPLASH were a Pogues-influenced Adelaide band which played regularly, releasing 3 CDs in the mid to late 1990s; they have also reformed on a few occasions since. They appeared on the show on January 28 1992 for a chat and to play some original songs live to air, a few years before they were officially recorded. For this occasion, the band played unplugged and were one member down, but were still loud and raucous enough to make mixing a challenge with only two microphones! Still, all good fun.
Interestingly, this was also the last “Rambling Folk”, as the show was then called, on a Tuesday night (8 – 9.30). The following week, it moved to Thursdays, but for an hour from 6.30 to 7.30pm. The date of the move to the current timeslot of Thursdays 9-11pm is presently lost in time.
