The WOMADelaide programme describes Novalima thus: “Emailed song ideas exchanged between four Peruvian musicians living in London, Barcelona, Hong Kong and Lima became the catalyst for Novalima. Their polished – and sometimes controversial – fusion of traditional Afro-Peruvian rhythms and melodies with rock, pop, salsa, dub-reggae and electronica brings the spirit of Peruvian blues into the 21st century.”
After a dozen years of existence, Novalima make their second tour to Australia in 2013, including their debut performace in Adelaide for WOMAD. Here is an audio interview with Michael Hunter and guitarist Rafael Morales conducted on January 22 2013.
