It’s always a pleasure to chat to Australian singer/songwriter GLENN CARDIER. On previous occasions, we’ve chatted about both main parts of his musical history – the 1970s and his Sunbury appearances, tours with Spike Milligan and Frank Zappa, UK recording etc, and his more recent critically-acclaimed musical resurgance after a quarter-century away from live performance.
The purpose of this chat however is the 2CD set “Old Haunts” which comprises unreleased demos from the 1970s (with a handful of new recordings of otherwise unheard songs of the era). 46 songs which were literally hiding in the cupboard; none of which have been recorded by Glenn in the meantime, thereby making the set a combination of both old and new.
This interview was conducted on September 12, 2013 and covers various apects such as putting the tracklist together, cleaning up the tapes, listening to one’s own recordings from long ago etc, along with memories of touring with Sherbet and more!
