PERFORMERS ANNOUNCED FOR FLEURIEU FOLK FESTIVAL
Internationally renowned performers join some of the nation’s most outstanding emerging talent in this year’s line up for South Australia’s premier folk music festival.
Songwriter Keith Potger of The Seekers, Melbourne sister act The Little Stevies and fanatic fiddler Marcus Holden are among the interstate contingent named to perform at the 2014 Fleurieu Folk Festival.
The festival will run from October 24-26 with thousands of people expected to flock to Willunga for the annual entertainment feast.
“The interest we receive from interstate musicians wishing to play at the Fleurieu Folk Festival continues to grow every year,” festival organizer Pete Thornton said.
“The festival is recognized nationally as one of the most family-friendly and accessible festivals on the live music calendar. Audiences of all ages love it and performers love to play in it.”
“This year we have included 18 interstate-based acts in our program.”
“They complement an extremely strong local line-up of established and emerging performers that will make this festival one of the best in its history.”
Other interstate acts announced for the Festival include Women In Docs (QLD), Warren Fahey (NSW) and Grimick (NSW) while South Australian legend and New York Blues Hall of Famer Chris Finnen heads an impressive local list that boasts Halfway to Forth, Courtney Robb, Goldstein, Junior, The Hushes, Kaurna Cronin and many others.
The Fleurieu Folk Festival – named Community Event of the Year in the City of Onkaparinga’s 2014 Australia Day Awards – is a weekend packed with music concerts and sessions, dance, workshops, children’s entertainment and stalls. Adult tickets are only $70 for a weekend pass (accompanied children U15 are free) with early bird discount prices available before September 30.
