It’s shaping up to be a musically intriguing show this week. At 9.30pm, JENNY M THOMAS will be calling in from Melbourne to talk about the new CD with her band The System, entitled “Bush Gothic”, and their gig at Prospect Town Hall on Friday night (still happening despite the closure of Guthries). They play captivating modern arrangements of traditional Australian songs, and of course a few tracks from the CD will be played.
Feature rarity will be from French band CORIANDRE with intriguing arrangements from their own tradition and beyond, with instrumentation such as flutes, saxophones, Languedoc oboe, chalémie, punteiro de gaïta, electro acoustic hurdy-gurdy, épinette des Vosges, pipes, bass and percussion combined with modern production techniques and great playing.
Likewise for excellent Belgian band TRIPLE X.
Recent indie folk from all over the place, and plenty more.
All from 9 – 11pm Adelaide time. You know what to do.
Also, please note my interview with UK indie-folk pioneer VASHTI BUNYAN in 2005 is now available to read in the Interviews section of this blog!
